CHARLOTTE DAY

Illustration & Surface Design

Botanics & Pattern

Charlotte Day is an exhibiting local artist at Interior Angle, art design gallery, in Chelmsford.

Charlotte Day, artist, has exhibited art work with the Interior Angle, Art Gallery, since 2009 selling limited edition prints.

Charlotte Day is one of a collection of Chelmsford's local artists that are on display at Interior Angle, art design gallery, Chelmsford, Essex.

Charlotte Day has two great passions; the first one being design, the second being plants. Combining both, Charlotte creates botanically influenced designs for her collection of limited edition giclee prints.

Her primary artistic tools remain paint and brushes, first sketching and painting each element of the composition using ink and gouache. Designs are then digitally assembled in order to create perfect repeats or compositions – a true reflection of her passion for pattern.

After completing a Multidisciplinary Degree, specialising in contemporary craft and textile design, she studied horticulture at Writtle College and with the Royal Horticultural Society spending a year working at Garden Hyde Hall.

During this time Charlotte developed a deep appreciation of botanical and natural history illustrations, an influence apparent in much of her work.

Charlotte sells her botanically influenced designs for textiles, wall paper, stationery and ceramics around the globe, as well as taking commissions for promotional illustration projects and producing limited edition prints.

In addition to her own pursuits as an artist and designer Charlotte also works as a Technical Instructor and Associate Lecturer at Braintree College.

She is a member of Activate, Chelmsford’s visual Arts Group, and has played an important role in the Chelmsford Arts Trails. Her most recent achievement is her involvement in ‘A Beautiful Design’ within the Singapore Festival of Design 2009.

Other achievements include an involvement in London Fashion Week, New Designers exhibitions in London and being selected as a finalist for the BBC Mega Mela Young Designer of the Year in her final year of her degree.

Classic and refined, yet the artist brings to botanical illustration a quirky passion for contemporary notions of surface design.

From concept to product, Charlotte produces a wide range of affordable art for different uses; for everyone.
